Rules & Regulations

Rules & Regulations for all age groups …

PRACTICES

  • All Players are expected to attend their scheduled practices, we all know that things pop up from time to time that will force you to miss a practice and that is OK…what we are trying to prevent is kids that just don’t come to practice BUT show up to all the games and expect to play. We are only allotted 1 practice per week. Do your best to attend.
  • ONLY the players who are scheduled to practice on that particular day (unless asked by the coach running the practice) will be permitted in the gym. Parents are free to attend and watch practices…but players from other teams WILL NOT be permitted to HANG OUT in the gym or the school while their friends are practicing (we are not a babysitting service).
  • Be courteous to the coaches they are ALL VOLUNTEERS. Please have your children ON TIME for the start of practices and PICKED UP at the end of each scheduled practice.
  • If you have to miss or be late for a practice please communicate with your coach as I expect them to do the same COMMUNICATION IS KEY.

GAMES

  • This is not Travel or AAU basketball. We will have players of all different skill levels please keep this mind. The coaches have a mandatory substitution pattern they MUST follow so that playing time is nearly equally distributed.
  • Sportsmanship will be held at the forefront for not only the coaches and players…but more importantly the SPECTATORS…unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated…Lets all remember at the end of the day WE ARE HER FOR THE KIDS.
  • 3rd/4th grade will play on Saturday mornings
  • 5th-8th Grade will play on Friday nights
  • There may also be games that take place during the week depending on cancellations and make-up dates

COACHES

As I stated above they are ALL VOLUNTEERS…If you the parent have something to discuss with the coach do it in an ADULT manner…These men and women have given up hours of their time to work with YOUR kids on a weekly basis be appreciative and respectful of the time they are willing to give to our youth. If you need to further discuss things you can contact me and we can attempt to come to a resolution…my communication lines are ALWAYS open.

PLAYERS

  • We expect the players to carry themselves in a POSITIVE manner win, lose or draw. I understand in the heat of battle things happen, things are said, but we have to remember the BIG PICTURE it’s only a game…we cannot let our emotions get the best of us. Respect your coaches, teammates, officials, and spectators…if you are unable to conduct yourself in a positive manner you will removed from the league.
  • They are responsible for their jerseys… do not let things lay around…you will need your jersey in order to play in the game so do not lend it out or lose it.
  • Be on time and be accountable…DO NOT let your coaches and teammates down. For the students from the Pottstown School District your behaviors in the school can have both POSITIVE/NEGATIVE effects on your playing time. Excessive lateness and absences can and will forfeit your time on the court. The school district DOES have the power to suspend you from this league.

WEATHER

If the school is closed because of inclement weather then Pottstown PRIDE is also cancelled. There will also be times that Spring Sports may have to use our practice areas during our scheduled times and we may have abbreviated practices as well.
